Any tips on mending jeans please

Lots of my jeans have worn through between my thighs it seems such a shame to chuck out otherwise good jeans.

What's the best way to mend them? I've tried those iron on patches, but they only last for a couple of washes.

Let me know if you find out, I have the same problem.

I've always been like that, even before children. Big thighs.

Hmm

I know someone dh who has this problem.

The lady who does the mending at our local dry cleaners uses a large denim patch on the inside and then machines over and over it grid style. It makes for a rougher surface but it's not too obvious unless you sit with your legs akimbo Grin

marriednotdead thats what I do! I save unsalvedgeable jeans and try to match colour. Cross hatching makes a firmer material that can be a little bulky. If you catch it while its thin and not frayed i can often get away with blue cotton which is less bulky, show through isn't too bad. I have been doing this for years and it works well.

If the jeans are stretchy keep the cross hatching as loose as possible to allow movement, or it will be tight.

I await patiently the perfect jeans for thunderthighs!

Sew on patches before the jeans get worn through - then when the patch wears through remove it and sew on a new one. You could make it an interesting shape that extends across the thigh so that it doesn't obviously look like a patch.
