What have you found to be the essentials which you seem to use all of the time?

thanks.

The Works usually have a good arts & craft dept, our 1 was hidden away upstairs though & you'll find a lot of that stuff & more besides in there

here is good for all sorts... www.economyofbrighton.co.uk/

& here for fabrics, including accessories such as shears etc & felts which they sell by the roll...much cheaper that way :)
www.fabricland.co.uk/

& I love this company, they even send samples of bits & bobs with your orders, so something new to play with

yes embroidery thread IF its to show up, no just ordinary polyester sewing cotton otherwise

not sure what to recommend though, it depends ....is this for a kiddies craft box or for youreslf???

Wow rockinhippy - you do rock! Thanks for all of your links and info. It's for me to play with! I'm a total novice though, so any advice i can get will be brilliant. Thanks for taking the time out to help me. Really kind, thank you. x

lol @ rock bit Grin & no problem re time to help help :) they are links I use myself, so have book marked

for you is more difficult, but I'd suggest you look at what crafts you actually fancy having a go at the most, & collect bits geared towards that

for example Card making is a good & really cheap novice 1 to get into?? you can make it as simple or elaborate as your skill level allows & always have interesting cards for b'days etc

also have a look on your local Greencycle or Freecycle, you could well pick up a whole kit on there for free, I often see cloth etc on ours...you could post a wanted ad for crafty bits too

These people - Abakhan do all sorts of things and have some real bargains. I came across them as they do some cheap knitting wool but they do so much more than that too.

If you know what you want it is really worth scouring ebay. I have had some lovely bargains by searching on the words clear out (or clearout) in the Crafts section - you can get people clearing out mountains of stuff in one lot at very reasonable prices.

iloveblue · 24/01/2011 16:41

Fredaldous is also great for general craft items
