Oh I made some of those last year...they're quite addictive. I have four looking at me right now!

They also look great as a mobile when hung from a clean, natural branch by clear thread...or sewed in place along a branch and then the branch can be suspended or placed somewhere.

MumInBeds · 21/01/2011 19:01

They look lovely, thank you.

Adair · 21/01/2011 19:09

Ooh yes, might take my mind off waiting for baby to arrive! Thanks!

pebbles77 · 21/01/2011 20:18

oooo, i just love them on the mobile like your link overmydeadbody

i've got a few friends having babies this year so i think this will be their pressie.

this may sound silly - but are the branches real? also r the birds stuck with glue to the branch?

pipplin · 21/01/2011 20:46

Aw were you thinking of your adopted pippin OMDB? :) I will definitely be giving it a go tomorrow afternoon once some fabric has been tracked down. I've got some old clothes... time to investigate.

overmydeadbody · 22/01/2011 00:30

yes pipplin I wanted something that could be made by hand Grin

Old clothes would be perfect for these birds, any old scraps of fabric will do, you don't need much.

Pebbles I'd use real brahces and stick the birds to them with glue from a glue gun. Hope that helps.

Aw thank you :) I have today nearly completed my draft excluder I'll pop it on my profile when I've sewn the ears and tail on.

pipplin · 23/01/2011 15:37

I made one! It doesn't look too elegant tbh but I think it's because I made it from an offcut of fleece I had lying about from making the draft excluder.
It looks rather bulky, but was good to practice my hand sewing neatness.
However I did do it and if I can do it with one needle, fleece and greaseproof paper as a pattern, I'm pretty sure others will find this a doddle.

I am off to look online to look at actual fabric.

steamedtreaclesponge · 23/01/2011 15:50

Those are SO CUTE!

They're going straight into my project book...

spikemomma · 23/01/2011 21:31

overmydeadbody - they are fab - thanks because i've been looking for a first starter project and these are totally perfect!

Pipplin - you made me laugh - i'm off to find some old chip paper for a pattern, a used dog's rug for material and some brown string to patch it all together... inspirational floweth over me... Smile x
