Can anyone recommend a beginners book for making toddler clothes?

I would love to make a smock top for my dd who is 9 months but currently in size 12-18 months but I have never made an item of clothing before. I would like to start off with something simple. I have some gorgeous fabric left over from making a quilt so I just need to find a pattern. If anyone can help with suggestions that would be great! :)

Making Children's Clothes has a nice smock top and lots of other lovely patterns. The instructions are simple and suitable for a beginner.

I have that book, some of the instructions are not very good, especially as it is aimed at beginners. Like the party dress & boys shirt says to make the placket but doesnt tell you how grr!

There are lots of great free patterns out there...
try Oliver & S
