Anyone know of any blogs or companies that you can get free fabric from?

I'm skint and on a roll with making things but there are no spare pennies for fabric......

I am a big jumble sale fan for fabric, i look out for duvet covers and curtains that I can cut up and use. And usually fairly cheap. Ask around friends and family for old fabric, you would be surptised at what some people hold onto.

Thanks for the ideas! Funnily enough i made 2 aprons for gifts this christmas out of a single duvet cover and matching pillowcase - one for mum and one for daughter Smile Was on offer in Boyes for £7.50.

freecycle - you may get people with old curtains, or even retired crafters looking for a deserving home for their stash.

(I have about 3 years worth of fabric stashed - I found a fabric shop years ago whose core business was curtain-making - their idea of "remnant" was anything less than 10m, and they sold it for £1/m. Unfortunately this (non-replaceable - shop has gone) stash doesn't stop me buying more, as my DC are now old enough to point out Blush)

I used to work in central London when Gt Tichfield St. was still the centre of the rag trade.....if you could manage to be lurking round the shops at about 5pm you'd always find masses of fabric, samples and off-cuts put out for the bins, usually all neatly wrapped up in plastic bags. I still have quite a lot of the stuff I lifted recycled. No longer, though. Ah, happy days!
