Where for a 2nd hand sewing machine??

Anyone know internet sites / shops that sell 2nd hand sewing machines (other than ebay etc). Am keen to start sewing but my old sewing machine has died and can't really afford to buy a brand new one. Any suggestions welcome!

Just wanting to make very basic things.

have you looked on gumtree?

have a look in your local yellow pages or Thomsons,

I'd be surprised if you've not got a specialist shop somewhere near you, they will do reconditioned ones, & as you are just wanting basic stitches, you will find the older heavy basic machines will suit you fine, & will be pretty reasonable, probably no more expensive than Gumtree etc & they will come with a guarantee too,

Also, I've seen people ask for...& get sewing machines on Freecycle & Greencycle, so it might be worth you posting a wanted ad on your local site, & using the money you save to have it serviced....good luck

I was going to say Freecycle too, it's the kind of thing people have stashed away and don't use a lot, you might be lucky and get one, even if it needed servicing :)
