Advent Calendar Scarf on Ravelry - anyone?

Hi

Thanks to a recommendation I read on the scarf knitting thread yesterday (I think) I have signed up to Ravelry. Looking at the patterns tab, the first thing I saw was the Advent Calendar Scarf, the idea being (I think) that you knit a bit each day until Christmas. Just wondering if anyone has done this, and if so how easy was it. Am a "returning" knitter, ie have not knitted for years, and am really tempted by this.

Am also wondering what sort of wool could be used, the instructions just say to use "sockweight" or "laceweight" yarns.Anyone any suggestions? Am fairly close to John Lewis and Hobbycraft stores, also one or 2 independent wool shops within reach. Prefer buying in shops to ordering online, but open to suggestions to buying on internet too. All suggestions welcome - thanks!

...or is the wrong time of year to be thinking of knitting an advent scarf?

LOL, think you rather missed the boat with that one Grin

Does sound like a nice idea though, maybe bring it up again next November!

If you want to knit an advernt scalf tehn go for it! I think if you're just getting back into knitting it's good to start with something that's caught your eye that you'll be more likely to finish :)

Saying that, everytime I go on Ravelry I find about 5 more things I want to do, must finish what I've started!!

Erm, sorry I've not heard of those type of yarns, are they American terms?
