Gingham Ribbon

I recently paid about 1.50 for a metre of some blue/white gingham ribbon from Hobbycraft. However I was in the Charity shop the other day and spotted a gingham girls dress (blue) for 80p. So I am now looking for yellow/pink red as it will make me tons of ribbon. I will probably hem it as I make it but I reckon this is a tip worth sharing girls!! Also the more faded it is.............the better.

good tip !

Early Learning is my fave place for a bargain - their 'kids' craft stuff is great !

1.50 a metre....you must be mad!!!!
Go to a local fabric shop and you can get it for 30p a metre!!!!

I like the ELC bumper collage kit at a tenner. Its great for giving my DS to 'stickkit' while I am attempting to make cards. Another tip I got recently was to dip little flowers/leaves ie ivy in glycerine and they last forever. Don't know if it works but am going to try it.

Aaaaaaaaaah, didn't know that Jayzmummy. Having seen your lovely gingham card, I thought I had a bargain.

Hobbycraft is horrendously expensive though isn't it?

UCM.....the gingham card is made with paper!!!!!
I stitched it on the sewing machine and everyone looks at it and says "Lovely fabric"!!!!

undercovermum · 29/09/2005 20:18

Wow, did you buy it. I had a go at making gingham paper with watercolours. Just dabbed a bit of white thickener into fuschia paint but it made my card buckle. I am afraid I am a bit cheap

Even though, I should own shares in Baker Ross, Do Craft, Hobby craft etc......Not sure that was cheap but it made me feel good. I am always looking for ways to cut costs

www.artbasehornchurch.com

Use the search facility and type in

making memories 6x6 sam

and you will find loads of gingham papers that are perfect for cardmaking....be warned the site has IMO by far the best materials around.
