For me its erm.... I cant quite remember

ive got 3 on the go at the min..one I started over 2 yrs ago when pg with ds and was to go in his room...am trying to finish it for db due in dec...probably end up being for a grandchild the way I am going..lol

Jenum71 · 29/09/2005 19:23

Lol!

I found one I started when I was pg with ds1. I was only stitching his name (Zack) and I'd only managed the Z and part of the A! He is 6 now!

lol

this is a winnie the pooh and friends one..lovely but I just get bored of doing the same colour..pmsl

WigWamBam · 29/09/2005 19:27

I've got three on the go too; strangely, I don't have as much time to stitch since I discovered MN!

I'm doing a panorama of Stonehenge, a huge thistley-type flower (looks nicer than it sounds) and a Kipper picture for dd's bedroom wall.

Jenum71 · 29/09/2005 19:30

Nice!

I get bored doing blocks of the same colour .

Much prefer one with all different bits like country companions etc

OP posts:
WigWamBam · 29/09/2005 19:31

The backstitch on the Country Companions-type charts drives me up the wall, I hate it! I prefer just cross-stitch ... although the Stonehenge one is full of fractionals and straddled stitches so it's a bit fiddly.

Jenum71 · 29/09/2005 19:34

yeah I'm not too keen on backstitch, especially on those Tatty Ted ones ! Arrgghhh

Which is a shame cos I quite like Tatty Ted!

OP posts:
WigWamBam · 29/09/2005 19:37

I go for the more realistic designs, but dd likes me to do her some of the Tatty Teddy type things, so I can't escape the dreaded backstitch all the time.

Al backstitch should be sent to Room 101

Jenum71 · 29/09/2005 19:40

Definately!

jenk1 · 30/09/2005 11:40

i started cross stitching a photograph of my ds and my neice together 2 years ago.
then i got pregnant and havent touched it since

am definately going to do it this winter though, hey we should take photos of our projects and put them on here like people do with cards

Miaou · 30/09/2005 11:51

I've got a few on the go too (my own designs). In fact that's what I should be doing just now....! I'm doing a very bright design with tropical fish on it (no backstitch!), but I have to finish off three designs for a local shop and I've promised my db that I will do him a birth sampler for his baby (due in December - argh!) - when I see it all written down I so shouldn't be on here.....!!

i design cross stitch when not on maternity leave. work for coats crafts uk, anything with 'anchor' brand name. don't stitch it though, we pay people to do that for us

i appologise about the backstitch on the tatty teddy ones, some, not all, are my designs! backstitch is the only way you can get the tatty effect i'm afraid

Tommy · 01/10/2005 16:09

I have a Victorian style sampler on the go to celebrate my nephew and nieces' christening which was last Sunday

hellsbells4 · 01/10/2005 17:12

I completed the sampler of my babies' births last year - they are now 18 and 13! Do I win?

cadbury · 01/10/2005 17:19

I have a very big Orange tree one that I have started, in the middle of a 12 dancing princesses sampler, have about 5 waiting for me to finish framing them and goodness knows howe many waiting for me to do them at all
Really must get my ar$e in gear

suedonim · 01/10/2005 21:36

Not telling and you can't make me! Put it this way, I have a blanket box stuffed to the gunnels and half a sideboard full, the doors of which I have to slam shut very quickly to prevent it all cascading out.

suedonim · 01/10/2005 21:38

Oh, and I'm the odd one out as I quite like backstitch. I have a tapestry that I've been doing for about twenty years. The moths will have it soon, I'm sure!

Jenum71 · 02/10/2005 11:53

Lucykate - do you really design the tatty ted pictures?! I'm impressed and starstruck! Wow!

I do understand that you need the backstitch to get the right effect, but its still a PITA!

What other designs do you work on?

OP posts:
Jenum71 · 02/10/2005 11:54

Hands down you win Hellsbells!

OP posts:
Jenum71 · 02/10/2005 11:54

lol @ suedonim!

You like backstitch? Oh well each to their own!

OP posts:
suedonim · 02/10/2005 15:36

Hehehe! I just like those straight lines and the fineness of the thread, I think. It annoys me if there's lots of starting and finshing off, though!

Jenum71 · 02/10/2005 16:10

Yeah IKWYM!

I dont mind backstitch if there is a def hole to put the needle in and out of and I do think it makes the picture look better, but backstitch when its all over the place and its tiny stitches too - oh dont get me going!

OP posts:
WigWamBam · 02/10/2005 16:14

I prefer it where the detail in the picture is done without backstitch - it makes the stitching more complicated but I like the end result better. I actively avoid charts that use backstitch.

jayzmummy · 02/10/2005 16:18

Why dont you cross stitchers open up a gallery on yahoo so we can all see your work??? You must be so talented and I wanna see some of your creations.
