Have some lovely monsoon silk pjs that have hole in now, but putting the fabric in the recycling seems a waste, its really pretty. What could I do/make with it thats not too tricky? NB I cannot sew, and I am happy to do kiddi crafts with it

You could try making a little rag rug. Have a look on line and on youtube for instructions.

You just need some hessian and a special tool for either hooking the fabric through the hessian or pushing it through.

Combine your monsoon pjs with some other scraps and tada you have a little rug.

Kirstie Allsop did one on the last episode of Homemade Home. Looked fab. You could maybe watch it?

I plan to do this with some baby clothes .

Deux - I was going to suggest a 'proggy mat' too.

You could make a simple tote bag (or two) plus my current favourite, covering a book or notebook/s - even better if pre-covering with heavier fabric or similar for padded effect.

And simpler yet - frame a piece for wall

LaurieFairyonthetreeEatsCake · 01/01/2011 23:28

Can you shorten them and then use the extra fabric to patch the hole?

twirlymum · 01/01/2011 23:36

What about cushion covers?

mollymole · 02/01/2011 15:44

what about 'rag' cushion covers must quicker than rugs

Make up bag. Flossie teacakes does a lovely tutorial here

You could also make matching coin purse simply by altering the dimensions to a shorter rectangle.

With the fabric being pretty and silk it's a crying shame to waste it on a rag rug! Use it for something more petite and glamourous Smile

Oh. Just saw you say you can't sew.

Rag rugs are lovely and simple to do!

It's tricky to think of a use for fabric when you can't sew, particularly one that will fray badly... I know - simple bunting! you can cut out triangles with pinking shears and tack or glue to a length of ribbon for some quick pretty bunting Smile
