Let's share, I am ill in bed and nosey. Too ill to sew anything Sad

I love reading about other people's projects.

The last thing I made was a pair of oven gloves for my boyfriend's mother for christmas.

Maybe I'll post a pic of it.

I just read that as sewers, as in the things that take awage sewage and dirty water.

Just wanted to share my giggle. Xmas Smile

craftynclothy · 16/12/2010 09:51

I made a little bird Xmas tree decoration for a decoration swap. It was from a gorgeous book someone at my sewing group showed us. Will see if I can find it on Amazon.

overmydeadbody · 16/12/2010 09:53

Trillian Blush I did write sewers didn't I? lol

craftyandclothy your bird decoration aounds good. If I wasn't so ill I would make some spool birds for the christmas tree.

A cover for my sewing machine.

And a couple of little Christmas decs that hardly count.

Next project is a tea cosy.

1234ThumbScrew · 16/12/2010 09:55

New christmas stockings for my dc's as the old ones were a bit small and caused Santa problems last year.

mollymax · 16/12/2010 10:08

I made some Christmas bunting, which is now around my sitting room with lights.
Looks pretty, even if I say so myself :)

dizzyday07 · 16/12/2010 10:08

I'm in the middle of making a quilt that needs to be finished for Xmas!

overmydeadbody · 16/12/2010 10:12

Yuno I keep meaning to make a sewing machine cover. Have made two tea cozies recently, they are fun to make!

mollymax Xhristmas bunting sounds fab! I bet it looks lovely.

dizzy I am impressed with anyone who quilts, the patience and commitment needed is beyond me I tihnk.

1234 I made christmas stockings this year, it is the first time we will be doing them, and I fear they are rather small and narrow!

i made a dress on the weekend that i wore today to the end of year doo.

nettie · 16/12/2010 10:43

So did I Trillian!

I've got a half-finished coat, a half finished skirt and a half finished jedi cloak to finish. Can't actually remember the last thing I did finish Blush. I like the choosing fabric bit and cutting out!

rockinhippy · 16/12/2010 11:14

I made some Moshi Monster pillow/toys some for DD from Santa, & a few extra to sell on e-bay..& they were selling well too :).....though I'm annoyed e-bay pulled them after complaints from the moshi people Hmm even though they don't exist until next year, & mine are nothing like the ones they will be selling anyway Hmm, reckoned it was an infringement of copyright, but from my work & checking with a solicitor friend & online, I know it wasn't....whoops, went off into a rant there Blush it bugged me...Grin

anyway it was inspired after seeing a post on here from someone looking for one & them not available for Xmas, so made some & it was a nice change from making clothes:)

I think I'll be pinching your oven glove idea too :)...I hadn't thought of making one of those before, but not been able to find one I like that lasts more than 5 minutes.....had to melt on me Shock turned out they were polyester basedHmm so I've some cotton cord that would work well Grin...thanks for the idea

Other than that, my next project is a fur coat & matching hat for DD from "Santa" ...though not quite sure how I'm going to pull that off as a surprise, as she's now home sick :(

messylittlemonkey · 16/12/2010 11:19

Mini bunting for the smas tree using Michael Miller xmas fabric!

My sewing skills are basic, but these looks great!

Get well soon!

memphis83 · 16/12/2010 11:24

made bunting with my sons name on for his room and am sewing a santa sack for him, just in the process of cross stitching his name onto it, cursing giving him such a long name now!!

trumpton · 16/12/2010 11:31

Balaclava to wear to WW11 assembly this morning. Took an old hat and cut slit and zigzaged round slit. Added quick bobble on top. Popped round to show MIL who said "Oh lovely . That will keep you toasty when you go shopping" Erm....it was a joke one to make the children laugh not a fashion item for me. IT WAS ORRIBLE.

YunoYurbubson · 16/12/2010 11:55

Ooooh, Christmas bunting. I have just the fabric for that...

GentleOtter · 16/12/2010 11:58

Last sewings were lots of heavy door and window curtains lined with woolly blankets.

I now want tiny Christmas bunting...Xmas Envy

evenkeel · 16/12/2010 15:07

I made a dressing-gown out of fleecy red fabric which I thought would make me look very Christmassy....went for the 'medium' size so it would be roomy, but in fact it would swamp a sumo wrestler. It's massive. Gawd knows what the 'large' size is like. A tent for all the family, I suspect.

Before that, I made a shopping-bag for my niece which I was very pleased with - the pattern's for sale here

RhinestoneCowgirl · 16/12/2010 15:10

Christmas bunting and some lavender bags for my first ever fair. Was so chuffed to sell some stuff but now need to make more bunting for us I think...

Tizwozliz · 16/12/2010 17:14

Last finished: A sock menagerie

Currently: Felt food

MrsThisIsTheCadillacOfNailguns · 16/12/2010 19:09

Heart shaped lavender bags.

I make jewellery,so have been concentrating on getting gifts finished for family and friends.

Am 39 weeks pregnant and in the grip of Startitis and wicked nesting, so there are loads of uncompleted projects hanging around:

-I'm halfway through making a version of the Family Sleeper pad (which is basically a thick flannel pad with a bolster attached, for co-sleeping). Got fed up with pinning the bias round the edges though.

-The fabric for a Beatrix Potter quilt is lying around waiting for me to make a very basic baby floor playmat. I made a lovely quilt for DS and hate the idea of not doing one for this baby.

-Half-finished pair of knitted trousers for this baby.

-Am cross-stitching a lovely kit of a scissors holder for my mother as a christmas present.

-Am meant to be making a soft cloth 'baby doll' for DS to take his frustrations out on. Grin

-Am knitting a warm scarf for DS - might actually finish that one!

-I want to make a pair of earrings for my lovely MW as a thank you.

What was the last thing I actually finished? Um... I did make and complete a felt Gruffalo for DS but haven't made the Mouse yet. Blush

overmydeadbody · 17/12/2010 07:52

Today, if I manage to get out of bed, I am going to make some mini bunting for the tree! sounds lovely.

Have just made stockings (well, draw string bags) for my boys (3 & 1). Sewing machine hasn't been out for years and I think it was sulking as the thread kept breaking on the second one.
