Best Solder for glass / jewellery?

My mind is Xmas Confused - i have trawled the internet for a solder and there are soooo many. I would need it for jewellery making / fixing hangers for glass work etc.

Do any of you ladies own one / use one and can you recommend one? It can't be too big and would need a stand as my studio is in my house...

Do you mean lead solder or a soldering iron? I use a Temperature Controlled Weller Iron for my glasswork, keeps an even temperature and heats up quickly. For solder I use 60/40 solder sticks. Try Tempsford Glass in Cambridge tempsford glass, they have a large range of different soldering irons and solder. Hope this is of use.

Apologies glasshouse - yes i meant soldering iron. Thankyou for your advice and that link Xmas Smile.

Would it be awfully cheeky to ask you which kiln you use? I have been sharing / hiring a mid sized Paragon but would really like one for myself - even a small one to begin with. This would be for glass work.

I dont have a kiln myself. Love fused glass but restrain myself to stained glass mostly. The link above has some kilns in it. Am now getting jealous, would love to do more glass work but have no room (or money!).

Oh don't be jealous of me Xmas Blush - i am such a beginner to all this (can't you tell). I work mostly as an illustrator but am getting a bit bored of it tbh.

I have painted on glass and like some of the effects but would need to work more than renting will allow me to do. Thankyou for that link again.

I think stained glass is a wonderful skill to have and i only wish circumstances would have allowed me to have gone on to do my Ma in it. Do you use copper or lead or both?

I use both but am strictly very amateur. Have done some fusing which is lovely but can be unpredictable. Would love to do more when time/funds permit.
