Barbie furniture

DH and I (but mostly DH) are making a Barbie house out of MDF for DD for Christmas. Do any of you know of any websites with step-by-step instructions for making barbie-sized furniture out of leftover bits of MDF?

Or any similar ideas appreciated.
Thanks Smile

Have you looked at websites like ELC and other toy stores to see what furniture they have. It's sometimes good to see what they include in their dollhouse sets. Borrow a barbie doll out of your DD's collection and make sure she fits it.

My parents made my dollhouse out of MDF with wallpaper samples on the walls, carpet/lino samples on the floor [mostly free].

Furniture was built upon over the years, and some bits were gained at bootsales at a later date. I think basics like Bed, Sofa and Kitchen were made at the time they gave it to me. Kitchen furniture was blocks that mum painted to look like washing machine, oven etc. Bed was basically a block of wood, mum sewed up some bedding for it.

It's such a lovely idea, I loved my dollhouse, as I grew up mum and dad helped me make things for it on rainy days. I knitted a blanket for the bed and made polymer clay food and vases.

Thanks for responding, kellestar, that sounds just like what we are doing - we'll build it up over the next while, just want to have the basics ready for Chrimbo!
There is lots of furniture out there, eBay etc, I was just hoping to get creative, so I may just wing it! I have made a sofa and a bed out of cardboard, but they're a bit big! And fall apart after a few plays...
Got some wallpaper samples from B&Q and some carpet from a sample place as well.
It will be fun making stuff with DD tooSmile
