How do I enlarge a template? My mind is mush

I'm going to have a go at a tiny first patchwork project. The book I've found my little pattern in has templates to enlarge on a photocopier.

The one I need says has 80% next to it. Does that mean it is four fifths the size of the final template? So then what do I tell my printer/ copier to do? Confused

I think I've got it....

So if the template is 80%
that means it is four fifths of the finished size
So it needs enlarging by it's own size plus a quarter = 125%?

I think you have it right although it is an unusual way of putting it. Most patterns I have seen, in magazines anyway, would say enlarge to 125% next to it.

That would be more helpful for a beginner like me!

I hate when books do that. How hard would it be to provide full size templates? I've a papercrafting book with loads of templates at the back. I'd like to enlarge them all as I never know when the mood to create will strike but it seems a lot to ask of DH..don't suppose he'd fancy getting spotted at the photocopier with a papercrafting book :)
