stiffening curly ribbon?

Ive seen curly ribbon used on hairbands and hats for girls. Curling round a pencil doesnt keep the curl in the ribbon which makes me think the ribbon is stiffened in some way. Has anyone tried this?

You bake it! You dampen the ribbon...it has to be good grossgrain ribbon....and then wrap it neatly around wooden dowels and then put them in the oven on a low heat....standing up.

Some people make special little stands for their dowels out of a block of wood witha hole drilled in the mddle so that your curl is not ruined by the ribbon lying on its side.

Americans call these "corkers" or "Ribbon corkers"

Google how to make ribbon corkers and you will see plenty of pics etc.
