fabric fixer for using normal paint on fabric ?

what do I use....saw kirsty prog last night where she used normal paint on fabric mixed with fabric fixer - I'd want to use normal not specialist fabric paint and checked the web but can't find anything. Looked like liquid that you add to normal paint? any ideas wher i can get it? searched google but nothing found.....thanks !

Haven't ever seen a fixer for normal paint. what is normal paint? emulsion???

She didn't use a dye fix did she?

Anyway you can use Acrylic paint,it's not water soluble once dry, but water it down a tiny bit to stop it being too stiff.(not too much water as it can 'bleed' on some fabrics!)

yep, sorry I meant emulsion as I wanted a particular colour to match my walls. I looked at the website and all it says is that it was "fabric fixer" and that you can use any paint not specialist fabric paint. I went to Hobbycraft today and they weren't sure what it was and the paints they had weren't the right colours I needed....might have to get on to channel 4 !

Ok in case anyone else wants to know...I managed to find the company she did the fabric printing with called them and its called "textile medium" made by Golden an american co who sell via art shops here. I've just ordered some on line...

I bought some from Blick - it means you can mix your own colours with acrylic paint. In France the stuff is about ?6 for a little bottle. They do tile medium, so that you can paint on tile in the exact colours you want. here
