I have a machine. I'm OK-ish. I'm making an apron for my Mum and a garden kneeler for my S-Dad this Christmas. I can wing them both without a pattern but if anyone knows of any lovely sites for inspiration I'd be grateful Smile

No Sew Apron This is a kids one and uses fabric, bias binding and wonderweb! I reckon you could scale up.

Oh it's cute!
I can manage the sewing alright and have a good sized fabric stash. I'm pondering making a more fitted or girly version but I don't know if it would be to hard?

There's a really nice one in the Weekend Sewing book, if you look for the blog (I think the author is called Heather Ross) they may have published it on there. I made it for my mum earlier this year and it's very retro and lovely.

In the 50 free aprons there's one called 'half yard apron' or similar. I made it a few weeks ago and it's a great pattern esp if you hate cutting out.

here is a (slightly fuzzy) picture of it and here is the pattern. I made it longer and fuller btw.

Very clever quiltingmoomin, I love the colour.
I'm thinking of doing it in a heavyish blue and white ticking-type fabric I have a bit of and making pockets out of contrasting blue and white fabrcs. I have a toile and a floral print that I think would look good.

Heavyish as in stiffer cotton than normal. It's not that thick actually. Do you think that ribbons as ties will look silly after a while?

Thanks!! Heavy material wld b good - I used floppy and it was a nightmare. You'd need strong ribbon to make it last. I'd use fabric tbh.
