Baby shrug knitting pattern? Help!

Yikes. Have been looking for some kind of delicate shrug type cardigan for my DDs first birthday to go over her dress, but to no avail. Party is a couple of weeks off so have decided that perhaps I will knit one instead (am not an experienced knitter but have done a few cardis and DM is coming over who does have lots of experience).

Can anyone help me find a pattern, preferably one that I can download online so as to save time waiting for it in the post?

I found this one, but it really is a bit too thick for her style of dress:

It needs to be size 12-18 months and probably 2 ply. A plain one is fine, but I will give the fancy stuff a go too! Have lots of yarn shops where I live (sweden) so the yarn wouldn't be a problem, but I tend to find that children's clothes styles are a bit different here and don't really want to trek round every knitting shop in town to come away without a suitable pattern.

Here's hoping...

I have made myself a lacy shrug by bascially knitting a very wide scarf. Then you just sew the two long edges together leaving the middle as a hole for the body to go in.
you end up with a long tube with a hole for the body.

Sorry i don't think i'm describing it very well.

ravelry has tons of shrug patterns on there. Just make sure that when you do a pattern search, check the free box.

hazchem ikwym, it's how I do my crochet ones.

Thank you for your help. Luckily my mum's friend from her embroidery class has offered to knit a cardigan. Hurry for Mums'-Friends-From-Embroidery!
