mugs to decorate

I would like the DCs to decorate some mugs with porcelain pens for presents - can I use any old plain mugs, if so where do I get them from? Do i need to put the mugs in the oven after painting to sort of 'fire' them and make sure the paint doesnt come off?
THANKS

I just boought a set of two from B&M Bargains...dont know if you have one of those hough...they came with paints...2 for 2.99! Mine loved them...I wash them by hand though and they only have cold or warm drinks...not sure how long they'll last!

Asda home dept, 4 white mugs for £1 IIRC!

You need to look at the porcelain pens to see if they need to be oven baked or not. Some do some don't

Even if you do bake them in the oven, they aren't dishwasher safe

All the mugs pictured here have come from Tesco/Sainsburys/Asda. I find ceramic paint works better with mugs with a matt rather than a gloss finish.
