Need to make a sari for DD's Barbie - any ideas?

School project time! DD's topic is India, and she's come up with the idea of dressing a doll in traditional Indian costume. I'm thinking a that a sari would be quite straightforward but have no idea about how big it should be or how to wrap it. Any suggestions grateful received. Smile

Made one for dd when she was about 4 following a tip from an asian girl I was working with at the time.

Take a strip of material as wide as the length of the 'skirt'. Sew enough in narrow pleats to go round the waist and a little for overlap. Sew on press-studs to fasten, and the rest goes over shoulder. It will need a top to go under - dd wore a white t-shirt under her's.

It would look really good if you can get a piece of material from one of the asian fabric shops.

Brilliant. Have done that on a miniature scale and it's worked perfectly. Thank you Smile
