Crochet Hook Size

My mum has taught me how to crochet (well make a granny square) and I was wandering how do I match the hook size to the type of wool. On the wool it says the size of needle in mm. Is this just for a knitting needle or is it the same for a crochet hook?

AFAIK, yes roughly the same size, tbh if you are making granny squares it won't matter much [hsmile]

Now you need to learn how to do "rounds" so you can make flowers, have a look on youtube, its the best place to learn crotchet...

Thank you kickarase. Just seen a video on making a beanie hat that I think I'll be able to do and thought I'd use some funky wool.
