Arts and Crafts Magazine enquiry

So, are there any decent UK arts and crafts magazines to be had. (I mean containing nice things that are doable and not shame making if left about the house).Smile

Nope

There seems to be nothing between the tacky free-gift sorts which occasionally have some presentable thing hidden away, and the really highbrow ones aimed at professional artists such as Selvedge.

I hope to be corrected if anyone has a better idea!

much more inspiration on the craft blogs IME

I would concur, US Magazines are generally much nicer although I did once get my hands on a french one which was bloody brilliant.. only problem with the US ones is the amount is costs to get them by subscription

There's a nice sewing one called Cloth (quite basic level but the odd inspiring bit) - good production values and uses contemporary material.

I get Marie-Claire Idées to practise my French. I've never seen anything like it in the UK.

I buy Sew Hip some are better than others though... I have a couple that have 3-4 projects that I plan to make and others, none.

My local quilting store stocks loads of fab Australian craft magazines but they are expensive (£6+) and not much cheaper than buying a craft book on amazon.

For some reason though I do love a good magazine over a book, even though you get much more value for your money when buying craft books.

Simply Hanmade is lovely, US I think but you can get an online subscription, really nice magazine.

Marie Clare is the best I agree. Quiltmania is good for (you guessed it) quilts but it too is expensive. Intersting re online subs - must check it out!
