HUGE recommendation for sewers

You may already all know about this, but I came across the Buttercup bag pattern a little while ago and liked the look of it, so I added it to my 'to make' list. I'm a bit of a beginner with sewing, had my machine about a year and so far only made basic things involving straight lines!
I decided to have a go at this pattern using some scraps of material that I didn't like, just so I could practice and go horribly wrong without regretting wasting fabric. I really thought it would be beyond my abilities, but it wasn't! I've just finished the bag in about 1.5 hours (excluding cutting, I did that last night), and I'm sooo pleased with it. It was really quite easy and so satisfying to make something that actually looks quite professional! I'm just gutted I wasted my time making one with naff fabric when I could have made a nice one and used it tomorrow! I'm going to be making a few of these for myself and for presents, in loads of funky fabrics I've got, and probably in different sizes as well, it came out a bit smaller than I expected. Anyway, as you can tell, I'm very excited and proud of myself and had to share. If you've not had a go at this pattern, I highly recommend it.

Sewers??!! When I read my title it reads as shit tunnels, rather than people who sew! Was going to say seamstresses but thought that was a bit poncy, maybe it would have been better!

PMSL -- I thought of sewage too, in fact that's the only reason I clicked. Sorry Grin

I've made three of these lovely bags, and it's really spurred me on to start designing my own bags Smile

Ooh, check you out NAB! I'm so not ready to start designing my own bags, but I am ready to start making things involving pleats and curves and stuff! Maybe one day...
