Anyone used Vogue patterns? Does "easy" really mean what it says?

I have little sewing experience, although have started to make a few bits for DD and was thinking of making something for me.

When they say "easy", who is it easy for? A professional, competent amateur, someone starting out?

Is there a particular brand of patterns that you've found to be more straightforward in general that I should stick to for a while? Any where the instructions just don't work?

Any advice appreciated :)

Very Easy Vogue patterns are extremely good for beginners and I have always found the instructions simple to understand. They also have a nice 'cut' to the garment. Start with simple tunic tops and dresses or trousers. Avoid lots of buttonholes, welt pockets and plackets until you are more proficient although zips are not too difficult. I would recommend buying a book on sewing with good diagrams and looking at tutorials online - then you can have a little practice. When you start out always tack pieces together and press as you go.
