Craft Show help?

OK, I am taking the plunge with my home made goodies... cushions and hand knits (baby booties etc) and taking a stall at a craft show in November. Now, as an experienced craft show retailer, what would absolutely have to take with you for the big day... although my house is 5 mins away, I want to make sure I have all the stuff I need with me.

Already have covers for the table, lighting and extension leads but what else might I need?

Tissue paper and bags (as butterflyeffect says), for packaging. Business cards and leaflets in case you get some commissions. Cash box with key. Change for the float and a calculator. Do the organizers have a card machine for online banking transactions? It's amazing how many people will turn up expecting that, or make an impulse buy on the day. From experience, as an organizer, I would say about 35 per cent was added to our total sales because we had that facility.

A couple of bottles of water and some peppermints cos it's very thirsty work.

Best of luck Latte

Thanks for your help... am slaving over my sewing machine and knitting on the train up and down to work!

oooh, me too, I am also taking the plunge craft fair wise in November and am slaving away as well! I borrowed this book from a friend and it has a handy section on craft fairs. It's quite an extensive chapter in a really good, if slightly usa focused book.

A few ideas:
Business cards/subscription for your blog, if a friend is doing the same fair make a postcard with your details and image on one side and your friend's on the other and have them on both tables (if we are doing the same fair I'm up for it! Grin)

wrapping/bag stuff

receipt booklet in case folk want a receipt

pen!

cash box/float

price tags for everything

calculator

Practice at home and lay out the whole table, take photos of it so you are well prepared for the actual fair (apparently there is a Flickr group dedicated to craft fair tables to get ideas from)

The book says you should have enough stuff to refill your whole table at least twice

Here's the Flickr group

especially like the idea of vintage suitcases to display things...

Thanks again to everyone, tomorrow I am going on a spying mission at a local craft fair to see what looks good, what doesn't work etc.

I am currently getting hung up on lighting... so am hoping to pick up some good tips.

Right back to the rotary cutter and the mat!
