Where can I get metal powder?

I'm going to attempt to make some fingerprint jewellry and from the instructions I have i need to dust the clay with metal powder but im struggling to find silver. Has anyone got any ideas? I'm wanting to try using polymer clay first rather than PCM due to the cost.

I've never seen metal powder - but I've used Art Clay Silver to make various bits & bobs & its really easy to use, once you have the confidence!

You can buy metal powder in most art shops, it is made by Schmincke but I am unsure if it can be used on clay.

There is a fabulous shop in London called Tiranti. I think they may be able to advise you.

You are looking for 'bronze powder', silver bronze powder doesn't look as good as the gold, but there is a huge variety of shades. The best I have found is from a shop in London called Stuart R Stephenson (which is a fantastic shop btw), they do mail order and have a website here.

That link has courses in silver/gold/bronze craft so there may be one near you and it would work out much cheaper to go to one of the classes instead of buying all the materials individually.

gentleotter - have you done any of the courses before?

I'm still learning myself but have made a ring, a couple of charms & used Art clay paste to turn leaves into silver :-)
I've let the crafting slide for a while & am trying to get back into making things again :-)
