Needle size

I have been given several balls of Wendy Chameleon wool, which looks like chunky rather than double knit. I thought I would make a scarf in a rib pattern I haven't done any knitting for a long time and this should get me started again. Anyway, any suggestions on which size needles to use. I thought about 7mm?
Help.

I just checked online (it should say on the ball band anyway) and they suggest 6.5mm, but for a scarf you can go up a size so 7 or 8mm would be fine. HTH

I fancy knitting a chunky scarf too, how much wool do you think, for a pretty long one?
Thank you

About 300m of chunky makes a goodish size. If you want one of the really oversized ones that are around this autumn, 400-500m. (Most of them are cabled and cabling uses up a bit more yarn.)
