Originally posted this in the homes section but someone suggested asking on arts and crafts so here goes.

I think I'm going to have to buy the following cabinet www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/10134848
it's the only one that will really house everything DH and I need for our home office. Thing is we already have a lot of black & white/cream in our home and I don't want the place to feel too cold/clinical - any ideas for decorating it? (Other than just blue-tacking photos to the front, which feels a bit studenty).

thanks all

Ever heard of Bryonie Porter wallpapered furniture? If you Google her you will get to her site. A friend of mine who works in interior design tried it for her kids rooms and once you get the hang of it apparently if you are quite crafty and good with a sharp knife, scissors and glue you can get a good finish.
Have fun!

Is it plastic? I cant work out from the picture/description.

If it is plastic and it looks like the drawer fronts are wavy, it might be quite tricky to customise.

There are some great sticky back plastics out now. I use stick on decals a lot in the house and on my car (very unmumnetty!).

You could stick some nice ones on. They are not all fairies and flowers, there are some pretty modern ones available.

if it's plastic, definately go down sticky back plastic/fablon. Cut some nice shapes out, scrollwork or flowers or whatever you want to decorate.

If it's metal you can pick up a spray can of paint, all sorts of colours are around. You can still use the sticky backed plastic on the top as well.

If you know someone with a die cut machine you can cut shapes out with it to stick on your drawers.
