Wtf can I do with all my fabric 'bits'?

I am starting uni in september and will not have time for sewing, I have a lot of bags of fabric upstairs, some not great upholstery for testing patterns, some nice scraps etc and I probably only want to keep a small box of the nicest stuff and get rid of the rest.
It is nice fabric though, metres of black velvet stuff and plain cotton, cannot afford or be arsed to post it unless it's worth my while so reluctant to ebay but would be happy to giev it away if it's local.
Any dieas where I can try? Am in south wales.

local preschool/nursery for craft activities? secondary school home economics/textiles class?

Congrats on starting uni

Our local school loves getting stuff like that ... also the local youth group. Anywhere with children would probably love it!

Definitely ask at the local school. We have set up a sewing and knitting club at my DC's primary school, it is run by parents and most of our materials are donated. People like you keep us going!

(And I wish you were in mid wales and not south! Grin)

almost as much as me. i have about 6 bin bags worth of things i will get around to one day. i am just waiting for DS to get a little older so I can sew more.

i did have a sort out once and two bags went on ebay. they were very eagerly sought after. ended up giving them to a lady who had just started a fashion course.

This charity would be grateful for the cottons love quilts

otherwise if not your sons school, the local elderly day centre may have a use.
