I've got jars from things we've used like mayo etc and loads of tealights and im doing a fundraiser so thought i could use them and sell them with the proceeds going to charity.

Some of the jars smell of the food they had in them before so if anyone knows how to get rid of the smell and suggestions of what to make please let me know

Twist wire around the tops with a long length left over. Thread the length with beads and buttons then loop over and secure to bit twisted around top of jar. (Did that make sense?)

Voila! pretty hanging tealight holder, lovely to hang from trees in the garden.

I should think a swill with lemon juice would get rid of the small.

A good wash with hot water and washing up liquid should do the trick.

You can get glass paints as well to decorate the jars and then just pop a tea light in. The decorated wire sounds nice too.

or make stenstils out of those paper doillies (or similar) and spray paint the jars white using the stensil, make wire handles (as above) thread with beads, shells etc or leave plain.

Thanks everyone. I ran out of time before the fundraiser but these will be good for presents.
