Has anyone had a fever post CVS?

Had a cvs on Friday at the FMC. A bit of lower abdominal pain on Saturday, which is gone now. But, as of about mid morning today started to feel a bit unwell/feverish.

Fever is SLIGHTLY raised at 37.3.

Did anyone else get a fever post CVS, and if so did you have an atibiotic? And which antibiotic?

Hi,

I did not have fever after my CVS. Pain etc yes.

FMC are very helpful. Please give them a call and tell them how you will. They are the very best to give you advise and will certainly do.

Hope you get well soon.

You may need anti-biotics. Call them asap.

I did ask them about signs of infection. They said if the body temp is 38 to get ABs from GP / hosp. Suspect GO will laugh at me if I call her for ABs for 37.5.

I suppose I could just tell her it is 38.0.

Worth just asking the question. It's not a fever really until 38.

I have called the GP now, who wants to see me at 5:30 today. So, I'll keep an eye on the fever now. I wonder if there is any harm to the baby in taking an AB I don't actually need. As you say, my very slight fever doen't really qualify as a fever.

I thought this might be helpful to everyone, as I think we (just!) qualify to get this before it is axed. You can sign up for a reminder to claim the £190 pregnancy grant. I am looking forward to the government's contribution to my new pram (since I gave the old one to my sister in Chicago since I wasn't having any more babies ).

THe Abs won't be harmful to the baby. The danger is any infection that is causing the fever. Don't worry about the tablets - let the doc decide.

Persnickety · 28/06/2010 16:15

If the ABs aren't harful to baby why don't they give them as a matter of course post CVS?

I don't know. I just know that when I was considering a CVS/Amnio they said that one of the concerns was infection following the procedures and that they would give ABs to ward one off if necessary. I think following either procedure there is concern about potential infection for up to a couple of weeks if I recall.

Sure your doc will know what to do.

Strix · 28/06/2010 18:33

Thanks, fifi. Hae now been to doc and have some ABs.

Oh I suck at name changing. I am Persnickety. Was hiding the whole pregnancy thing 'til I got a clear CVS, which I now have.

Glad it's all worked out.
