Triple test WITHOUT NT scan, what were your results?

My dates got a bit mixed up and when i went for my NT scan i was found to be 16+3 so was out of time for it. I did take the option of the triple test. This is my fourth baby ( i am 38)
I just received the results 1/770 (0.12%) which i am not concerned with, but my DH does seem to be. I was just hoping people might post (if you can remember) what your results were so i could show some 'hard evidence'

Hope this is not deemed as an inappropriate post?

Hi

You're right not to be worried. Why don't you tell him that there's only a 0.13% chance that there's an issue. For your age, those appear to be pretty good odds.

My DD was 1 in 84. I had the amnio, and she's now a healthy, happy 3 year old.

Good luck trying to convince him!

Hi Jaysforth.
I agree with Bezzy - these are good odds. Of course, there's still a '1' in there, but there are 769 chances everything is fine. Or 99.88% chance everything is fine, if that makes it clearer. You wouldn't bet against those odds. The cut off for being 'high risk' varies between hospitals, but is generally somewhere between 1/100 and 1/300 - you're well out of that. And an amnio is not only extra stress, but also has an apparently much greater chance of causing a problem in itself.

These tests are a really difficult thing because they can only give you a risk factor, and there is always that '1'. I had a 1/4 risk (from NT) and turned out to be that '1'. But I know of someone else on here who was given a 1/2 risk (again, from NT) and she was the other one - no problem at all.

If you're happy with the odds, hopefully you can convince DH and get on with enjoying your pregnancy. Congratulations by the way! I hope all goes well.

PS - Not an innappropriate post at all. This area is perfect for reassurance and support, whatever the risks or outcomes.

thanks both of you for the replies

I am happy with the result, my DH is a born worrier, and i think part of it has to do with 'we have had three healthy children' are we 'pushing the odds?' but he will be fine as long as i have something to do with it!

once again thanks!

1 / 55 (opted for amnio and was all ok. for my last one but the year before I was 1/2500. I had a friend 38 who was 1/5. 1/770 sounds like good odds to me. It did make us stop at 3 thou.

Where we are they don't do the NF test so I've just had the combined test.

1:5700 for Down's
Says 'Low Risk' for Spina Bifida but not a figure... is that normal?

I think in my PCT they don't put a specific fiqure on any of the tests from the combined blood test. You are either high or low risk.

I wouldn't worry about it.
