Scary NT scan results Help!

Hi all. On Monday we had our NT scan (11 weeks + 4). We were advised that there was a nucal thickness of 3.5mm and possible cystic hygroma = a possibility of Turners Syndrome or Downs syndrome. The blood screening results have not yet returned but they felt a possible 1:30 chance. We were mortified as we have a perfect 13 month old beautiful daughter already, the pregnancy so far has been great and i?m only 31 years old... so we never imagined anything could be wrong! They arranged for a CVS which i had yesterday. It wasn?t as painful as i thought it would be! The team were great but the consultant gave us even worse news... he thinks there is more chance that the baby has either Trisomy 13 or 18. We were totally devistated! The first results hopefully will arrive Monday but as you can imagine i?m going out of my mind waiting and hoping for a normal result.
Has anyone had this scare, but a good outcome?
Thank you

Ziggy, I had 2.9 + nasal bone + bad bloods = 1 in 2 for DS (NHS didn't factor in nasal bone). Baby is fine, 9 months old no problems at all.

Wish you and wife well x

Just an update so far, after opting not to do any tests we chilled out and relaxed and actually started enjoying the pregnacy. That was until monday when we had our 20week scan. The consultant showed us a build up of fluid in the chest cavity around the left lung. He also suspected a heart problem and a slight bending of the little finger. He gave us the senarios some of which are truly unthinkable. With these results and the high NT result Downs or something else were a real possability. At this point we opted for the amnio and he did it that afternoon. We also were referred to Southampton hospital to a fetal medicine consultant to look at the heart and lungs. That got sorted extremely fast and we were there on Wednesday. Thankfully we got the all clear on the heart and as far as he could tell it had no problems, he also said the fluid build up is moderate and if it stays the same intevention shouldnt be necessary, it may get better on its own. Only if it gets worse will it cause problems especially to the heart of the little one. Anyway after 4 days of hell the first results came back from the amnio giving us the all clear on downs and two other chromosonal problems. We have a meeting on wednesday to talk about the lung problem but we are much more hopeful now. We also have to fly back to SH in a few weeks for another scan. Fingers crossed! I feel for anyone going through what we have been through so far, it really is the most scary thing we've experienced. And its not over yet, just trying to stay positive!

ok so we've had everything back now, everything is clear including viral tests. We went to SH after 2weeks and the fluid around the lung is completely gone! Grin Its bizzare really but me and mum2be are so relieved and happy. It was the first time we had a scan where everything was normal and everyone was happy. We can now enjoy the rest of the pregnacy. We still have to go in for 3 more scans to keep an eye on it, but the consultant was very positive and said he couldnt recall anytime that when the fluid had gone completely that it had come back. To anyone in our shoes or similar try and stay positive because stressing about it doesn't help (easier said than done), but the last two weeks were a sort of limbo stage for us where anything and everything ran through our minds and we found that we eventually sank into a "whatever will be will be" attitude and relaxed.

I can't add anything to help, but I didn't want to pass without commenting. I've got my CVS on Monday after a shock 1 in 7 chance of DS news delivered yesterday. After a NT measurement of 2.2 I was NOT expecting anything to come back.

I'll be thinking of you over the weekend xx
