Should I ask for more detail after a high-risk quad test?

Last week I received a call from the midwife team to tell me that my quad test had come back as 1/5 - this followed my 12 week scan where it wasn’t possible to measure the Nuchal fold due to baby’s position. I have since had an NIPT and am awaiting results. T21 wouldn’t change my intention to have this baby - but of course, now the NIPT has opened new anxieties about T18 and T13.

I have had none of the information other women seem to share such as HCG levels etc. is this normal?

I know, I know, that having the numbers won’t change anything (I’m also 41, and have a high BMI and Hypermeis Gravidarum so probably have high HCG) but I’m very much someone that likes to have all the information available - it helps me feel like I’m in control/better understand a situation. Should I ask for it? Or just wait a couple more days for the NIPT results and go from there?

1/5 is so very much higher than so many women on here report - even women the same age as me. I admit, I’m spiralling a bit.

Have you had your NIPT results yet? I think that's the perfect time to have a bigger discussion with your Screening Midwife. If anything shows up on your NIPT, you can follow that up. If nothing shows up, you can ask your midwife for the other info and discuss the risks/likelihood of any other conditions.

I had a very high NT measurement of 8mm at our 12 week scan, NIPT came back high risk of T18. I was 38 and overweight. Baby was clearly very unwell on the scans so the Fetal Medicine Consultant supported our decision to TFMR without diagnostic testing (CVS or amnio). It had already been 2 weeks from 12 week scan by that point and I just couldn't live in that limbo any longer.

I was heartbroken but concentrated on TTC again and we went on to fall pregnant again within 4 cycles. It was nerve wracking but once I got a clear NIPT at 10 weeks, I felt more at ease, and had some extra scans plus my 20 week scan with a Doctor. Baby arrived a few days before my 40th, all well.

No results yet, no. Good advice though, I’ll wait and see.

I’m 17 weeks with a pregnancy that took four years to come, I’m so very, very, aware that this is probably our last chance.
