TFMR and ttc again straight away

Hello I hope someone can help me.

I had a TFMR 2 weeks ago. Still have some light spotting. I’m desperate to try again and have been told ‘when you feel ready but it’s better to wait and have at least one period first’
Is this just for dating reasons ? Nobody seems to be very clear just keep telling me it’s better to at least have one period but I don’t want to miss a chance.

Has anyone just tried again and been successful as I’m worried about if anything will have made conceiving harder like damage or scarring (which I was told was extremely rare).

I had a tfmr the week before Christmas. I am now 20 weeks pregnant so it’s definitely possible. I found my emotions were all over the place and I wanted to have some control back. I think waiting for a period is best for dating reasons, I also wanted to feel confident that my body was back to normal. Good luck with ttc again.

I'm sorry for your loss 💐
I think it is just for dating reasons, I had a tfmr a few years ago and that's what I was told. Good luck ttc x

Hi OP. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I suspect the one period thing is just for dating, why don't you just ask? I got pregnant again the next month and I do wonder if that was a good idea from an emotional perspective as I gave myself no time to grieve. You know yourself best. Best wishes for the future.

Thankyou for your replies and I’m sorry for everyone else who has gone through this. I have such fear that somehow the procedure has damaged my fertility. It took us so long to get pregnant with the baby we lost and I’m anxious things won’t be easy. I just feel like I can’t start to feel better unless I’m ttc again i feel desperate

I asked this exact question and was told ‘The advice to wait until your periods return to conceive is about allowing time for your body to recover. There is no risk associated with the medication [as part of tfmr] you were given. There is no clear guidance about the length of time a person should wait for another pregnancy. The consultants do advise that the pregnancy is more likely to succeed if you wait for your periods to return.‘

Sorry for your loss OP.

How long did it take you to fall preg and how old are you? If you don't mind me asking.

I know how you feel wrt it taking long and wanting to get back at it / check fertility ect.

It took me a long time to fall again after a termination of much wanted and long tried for baby. Almost the same exact amount of time again weirdly.

If it took you a while to fall then i don't see why you shouldn't start again asap. I did - keeping careful track of cycle ect.

Good luck x

Thankyou that’s helpful maybe I should just wait for a proper period but it’s so hard as I’m scared to even miss one chance if I ovulate but obviously I don’t want to rush if it could affect the success if I did.

Strange coincidence ! Same age same time scale here. I had DD at 44 and it took almost exactly 2 years to the day to fall for her.

I knew in my heart it was going to take 2 years again weirdly. I didn't want it to we tried so hard with chatting and timing and vitamins ect ect. But 2 years is what it took.

Its really hard and it drove me half mad - but please lean into the fact it might take a while again OP and try not to stress and stress over it 💐💐

Sorry you’re going through this OP.
Conceiving again straight away generally isn’t going to cause any problem for the pregnancy - unless you were quite late gestation for the TFMR and then it can be better to let your body build up some nutrients again!
But, you’ll be having aaaall the emotions and you might find yourself in a better position mentally if you wait a little bit and just allow yourself some space and time for grieving. I know each cycle and each month will feel like an absolute age to you but sometimes it’s not the best for mental health to throw yourself into the rollercoaster of trying again so quickly.
only you know what’s best for you, wishing you all the best.
