Raised nuchal translucency 6mm at 13+4, normal CVS

Hi everyone - looking to hear about similar experiences to mine as feeling really stressed and worried. My scan at 13+4 showed a raised NT of 6mm and had a CVS which was normal. I have another scan and fetal echo heart scan booked for 16 weeks. Even if those are normal I’m worried there could be an underlying genetic condition as I’ve heard they can’t test for everything on the CVS. Would love to hear from anyone with a positive or negative outcome to share! X

What did they look at on the cvs? Full microarray? Or just the top three trisomy?

TheFunBird · 19/01/2025 19:41

I think the top three and microarray yes!

Your result is giving me a bit of hope. You are the first raised NT in the 6 range that I’ve found that has then come back with a clear CVS. I had a NT of 6.6 at 13 weeks so just waiting on my cvs and really hoping for a positive outcome.
do you mind me asking what your combined screening statistics came back as?

TheFunBird · 11/02/2025 09:07

@NGF89 I’m sorry you’re going through this as well. I have found it incredibly stressful. I had an NIPT at 10 weeks (as my daughters NT had been borderline in my last pregnancy) which was normal so I was referred straight for CVS rather than doing the bloods for screening too. My 16 week fetal scan and heart scan have also been normal so far. Will be thinking of you and praying that you also have a normal CVS result xxx

@TheFunBird thank you. The cvs went ok. Nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. Consultant dropped a bombshell though that she couldn’t see a nasal bone and obviously that’s a soft marker for DS. Along with the raised NT, I think we know what the outcome will be. She did measure the NT at 4.4 though, and the sonographer last week measured at 6.6 so that’s confusing.

@NGF89 I’m very glad to hear that the CVS wasn’t too painful. And I’m sorry that the nasal bone wasn’t seen but hopefully might still mean nothing? Good news the NT has already reduced - ours is still ‘prominent’ on the latest scan. I’ve got everything crossed for your results. Hope you’re managing to get some rest - it’s such a challenging time x

Hello @TheFunBird we got the devastating news today that baby has DS. We have made the heart breaking decision to terminate. Unfortunately that won’t be until next Friday which seems a very very long way away.
im completely broken but I know time is a healer. Thank you for checking in. It means a lot.

TheFunBird · 17/02/2025 20:15

@NGF89 I’m so so incredibly sorry to hear that sad news. No one should have to go through that heart break. Sending love and strength, hope you have a good support team around you who can help you through this xx

Just to update this post. My baby girl is now 3 weeks old and is perfectly happy and healthy. Her nuchal fold remained raised throughout the pregnancy and the doctors never found a reason for it. Sending love to anyone going through a similar journey x
