Hello Mumsnetters,
I really hope you can help, offer advice or hopefully share similar experiences...
We had our 20 week scan and was referred to Foetal Medicine as our baby is measuring 3% for head circumference and abdominal circumference. The Dr who gave us a second sonograph advised we have Amniocentesis and blood work because the placenta looks really thick/large albeit healthy and that this could make the pregnancy 'not viable,'.
We had the results of amnio and microarray and baby has come back negative! which has eased my mind a little. However, I am still extremely worried because the placenta is big and the baby is small. They have also ruled out any infections.
Has anyone here had a thick placenta and a healthy baby? Did you get induced? Did you receive extra monitoring throughout your pregnancy?
The last month has been so so worrying and there doesn't seem to be many posts about a thick placenta. Is it really uncommon?
Hope you can help share any advice or experiences...
Thank you so so much
