5 week scan, no yoke sac

Hi guys, I'm looking for some opinions or advice and I guess reassurance.

I'm 40yrs old never been pregnant. Me and my fiancée have been actively trying for 9 months and finally had a positive result, that I never thought would happen.

I went for an early scan, just for reassurance that I was definitely pregnant.

The doctor was lovely, he said I was 5weeks1 day pregnant and said he couldn't pick up a heartbeat as it's too early but confirmed I was pregnant and left feeling happy. I then got home and read the report and it says " no clear yolk sac or FT" I then went down a rabbit hole that I should see a yolk sac at 5 weeks and that I most likely not pregnant.

Had anyone experienced this?

Sorry Chelsea. It can be very stressful. I've had one normally presenting, one miscarriage prior to scan, and one that was nowhere to be found- suspected abdominal ectopic. I'm 41, never pregnant naturally and many IVFs, one child.

It can be early and you'll want to rescan at 7w when the heartbeat can be detected. Fingers crossed!

In the meantime, I'd edit the post because your name and details are on it. Here's a cropped version you can use instead.

Also your date, if not an IVF pregnancy, is best guess- you can be earlier/ later than you think. Even if tracking ovulation you don't know when the egg actually released or when the embryo finally implanted. Days count when it comes to seeing stuff that early.
