Im currently 16 weeks and 4 days pregnant and just had our gender scan and fetal well being check which went really well although baby wasn’t playing ball with getting a good picture, they’re face was facing my back so we could only see back of baby’s head mostly.

however after receiving the pictures the 3d/4d scan has absolutely terrified me and I wanted to see if this is normal at this stage! I appreciate they move a lot but it seems a chunk of their face is missing!

It's likely to just be image artefacts - fluid for example can make it look like there are holes or gaps in baby, and at 16 weeks there is a lot of fluid around baby!

They would absolutely told you if there was anything wrong!

You should see the size of my younger one's bumhole on one of those:)

Thanks! I’m getting myself all in a panic but realising the sonographer probably would of said something if they felt something was wrong I just think maybe I should of refused to get those picture if I knew it would cause such anxiety!

I just wasn’t sure if that was included in what a private scan offers so I’ve been going out my mind the past hour hahahah!

fingers crossed everything is okay with baby as they didn’t say anything at all when we were there!

Just read your post again - if their face was against your back, I suspect it's an image artefact from where the tissue of their face was leant up against fluid/womb/your back!

It's easy to feel really worried but they would have told you. You could email them to double check if you wanted to - does the place you went use NHS qualified sonographers?

Are you having a little boy or a girl?

I think I’m going to get in touch tomorrow to to raise my concern and see if they can shed some light on it!

it was window to the womb and it says they work closely with the NHS but nothing about being nhs qualified so unsure! I can ask this as well though.

yes he said that the baby wasn’t being co operative and I had to get up and move about but still was the same so I do hope your right and it’s just fluid!

we actually don’t find out until Saturday with our family so it’s sealed in an envelope currently hahaha so tempting to peek
