Cyst on the brain at 25 week scan

At 20 weeks everything was perfect, and we were sent for a growth scan today and we discovered baby now has a cyst on the brain. We have been referred to FMU but I have been scared and no one will tell me anything at this stage. Google isn't very helpful either.

The report states "Cyst noted within head, that is avascular and measuring 34 x 40 x 33 mm and contains a solid component measuring 22 x 18.x 16 mm" I always believed cysts to be fluid and so I am now worried this is some kind of tumour.

Has anyone had any previous experiences of similar?

This is related to some degree and I hope it makes you feel a bit better, but my Grandad has a cyst on his brain and as far as his neurologist can ascertain, he's had it since birth. He has regular MRI's and it's never grown or caused any neuro issues in his life.

I hope your baby continues to grow safely xx

Hi that is very worrying and of course your mind goes to the worst case scenario. I just wanted to say that iam prone to cysts, quite often on my head, they don't cause me too much bother and they are like hard wee balls - definitely not fluid. I hope some more replies will put you at ease a bit x

No experience myself but when my mum was pregnant with me I had a cyst on my brain and it it did disappear by the time I was born! I turned out okay..mostly😂

I'm sorry you’re going through this worry, I’m currently pregnant and have had my fair share of scares this pregnancy so I understand how scary it can be.
