Glucose Test Results for Gestational Diabetes

Hi all,

Has anyone had the 2 hour glucose test done recently?

Just wondering how long it took for you to get your results? Whether positive or negative?

Did you get a call the next day or a letter? Or were the results uploaded to an app?

Thank you x

It'll vary by NHS Trust as to how quick the results are in, and how the news is delivered to you. Did you ask for the result of your finger prick there and then? Do you have your midwives mobile number? I would text her after a couple of days or call the main midwife office number.

My experience of this was over 20 years ago, but I had the glucose tolerance test on Friday morning, went into labour on Sunday night, gave birth on Monday, and got the test results on Tuesday. They told me while I was still in hospital, and yes, it was positive.

I hope things are quicker now and that you get your results in time to be useful!

I'm pretty sure you don't hear anything unless it's positive. In which case they phone you

From my experience, it’s quite important to get the result before you give birth. Or, if you’re several weeks away from giving birth, it’s important to get treatment (if you do have gestational diabetes) within a week or two. How many weeks are you?

Hi @scoobysnaxx , I had mine done Monday morning. I had the results (just the readings) in via the app on Monday evening, and a letter uploaded via the same app on Tuesday morning - confirming my results were normal.

hope you get yours quickly x

Hi thanks this is helpful!

I've not had a call yet. Just checked Badger and Patient Portal and nothing has been uploaded yet.

Have just texted my midwife to ask when I should hear..

Assuming yours is negative which is great! X

Midwife is great.

Asked for my NHS number and checked and it's normal. Thank God.

Was scared as I had to do the test twice as I had such a bad reaction and threw up the first time. Second time barely made it through.

Mind at ease.

Thanks all for your replies xxx
