Has anyone had CVS test results before 2 weeks?

I have had a CVS test done last Tuesday and have been notified of the standard results that they check for but as we are being checked for rare genetic disease they have said 2 weeks. I am wondering has anyone had results before this? I am so anxious and time seems to be passing so slowly!

I hope things go smoothly for you, and you get the outcome that you hope for. It's a really stressful time so take care of yourself. Xx

CharTT33 · 07/01/2024 10:25

@geminigalx thank you so much for your reply and information xx

@Chouxbun @geminigalx hey ladies,

so a bit of info of what’s happened so far. So I went in on Wednesday for my 12 week scan and all my bloods taken and obviously the CVS was supposed to happen, but my placenta wasn’t developed enough for them to do it. I was told to come back next week Tuesday for the CVS test I’ve got my blood results the next day which gave me a one in 47 chance of trisomy21. I was then asked if I’d like to come back that day, which was the for the CVS to be done for both my genetic condition and the trisomy21. so I did I was so scared now I’m waiting and just a ball of anxiety .. any words of advice for the waiting period or any advice just generally would be so helpful. Thanks ladies.Xx

Hi @CharTT33, it's a really difficult time so be kind to yourself and do whatever brings you comfort. In my experience the anxiety calmed down after the first couple of days after the CVS, then it ramped up again when I was expecting results. Keeping busy with friends and family and talking to them about it if you feel comfortable helps. As you had the CVS done on Tuesday then hopefully you'll have your first set of results on Monday? I think they say 3-5 days for the first set and then 2-3 weeks for the full microarray if you're having that bit done too. Hang in there, it's really tough xx

CharTT33 · 27/01/2024 14:25

Thanks for that… trying to stay busy where possible… I had the cvs on Thursday so it only the second day and it’s the weekend I don’t think that counts 😒😒

tick tock looool

thank you @Chouxbun

Chouxbun · 27/01/2024 14:28

Ah I see ok so it might be a few days yet. I did call up at the end of Wednesday (I had mine done on a Thurs like you) and they had just come in 10 mins before. So you could try chasing if they don't call you first x

CharTT33 · 27/01/2024 18:07

I think I’m too nervous to call… I’ll see how I feel soon nearer the time… @Chouxbun Thanks again for your support.. xxxxxx

geminigalx · 28/01/2024 09:58

Aah I'm sorry it took slightly longer to get the CVS than hoped, but at least you've had it done now. Hope it went smoothly for you. The waiting is so so tough, so I'm really thinking of you. I ended up chasing the hospital after 4 days cus I was an anxious wreck & they rang the labs to chase the results. (They told me they cant give out the results until they have them through on a written report, so even if the labs have told them verbally they're not allowed to share) The midwives were really lovely about it cus I felt like a bit of a nuisance. I tried to keep myself busy and distracted, which I know is much easier said than done! We also just found ourselves going to bed early, to try and sleep the days away. We had a 1/57 chance for T21 and got the clear, so I'm praying you get the same result. Take care of yourself xxx

CharTT33 · 28/01/2024 11:37

@geminigalx yeah it’s awful! This is the worst thing I have ever been through to be honest. I just feel so out of control, in the dark all most. I just want the days to fly by and boom I just want to know what is. I just don’t want the results to come in while I’m at school or in the middle of teaching my class. I need a holiday after all of this! 😂😂😂😂

Im so glad you got good results for your pregnancy, I think I’ll probably call up on Tuesday/Wednesday if I haven’t heard anything by then. 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽

geminigalx · 28/01/2024 12:18

I know the exact feeling, it's just awful feeling like you've got no control isn't it! And although the internet is amazing, I must have read everything on there about 9 billion times over. I had to leave my phone in the other room cus I just couldn't resist the temptation of googling. You definitely deserve a holiday after all the stress! Got my fingers & toes crossed you hear back soon xx

CharTT33 · 28/01/2024 14:19

@geminigalx yes I’ve googled a million times re reading the same thread at times 🫣🫣🫣 defo not good for my mental health… I’ll keep you all updated either way. Xx

OT06 · 28/01/2024 18:19

Hi, I wrote last year on this thread as I was in the same situation of waiting. I got positive results from my cvs, but if this will give you more hope and comfort I believe the midwives respond very quickly to positive results. I received mine at exactly the third day after the cvs at 7:30pm which I totally didn't expect that late to be phoned. My guess is if you have to wait more than that most probably its a good sign everything is alright. All fingers crossed you❤️ and a bit of an update from me, after the nightmare I'm not 21 weeks pregnant with a healthy so far baby boy. Good luck ladies🌺

CharTT33 · 29/01/2024 10:01

@OT06 Firstly thank you for replying and CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW PREGNANCY! I am sorry you received a positive result for your previous cvs. I had my cvs done at around 5:30pm on Thursday evening so I am assuming the results should come back Wednesday next week. I just hope they come back and everything is perfect…. I’ve taken time off work but I think maybe being at work might be better just don’t want bad results while at work… 🫣🫣 I am a teacher and might not even be able to get out of class straight away. 🥺🥺

OT06 · 29/01/2024 10:30

Thanks a lot for your words. Unfortunately, life happens, the good thing is there is always a balance. The labs work weekends as well. They need up to 3 days for the pcr. If you don't hear today, may be call them in the evening or tomorrow to avoid them calling you at inconvenient time. I don't know if you can speak to the head teacher and arrange someone to replace you in case you need time off. I'm pretty sure you don't have to go into details but just for your own sake and to at least not stressing about it while at work, to know you are covered. Fingers crossed

CharTT33 · 29/01/2024 13:49

You’re welcome! I really hope the results come soon… on the report the letter says 3-5 working days for those results and 14 days for my genetic results…I mean there is no harm for me to call them… I kinda feel an element of fear… I’m so scared…. I feel like I’ve gotta pull up my big girl pants 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

I will speak to my head teacher when I go back on Wednesday.

Thank you for your advice xxx @OT06

I know how scary it is. Most of the waiting has passed now. The sooner you get to know, the less the struggle is. For me I knew things were wrong in the very beginning of my pregnancy, as it felt different to my other ones, then at the scan when they measured the NT it was 3mm, they tried to convince me its still considered normal I knew it is not. Then when my bloods came out my hormones were 6 times over the limits and that explained why I felt so different the whole time. I was offered NIPT but went directly for the CVS as I wanted to be sure I'm taking an informed decision. I asked so many questions and the midwives told me 3-5 days but positive results come very quick to give enough time for reaction. Over the phone they asked me of I want to go there to hear the results or I prefer to hear them over the phone. Don't worry they won't just call you and get straight to the point without considering you may not be in a convenient place to discuss this. Hope you'll hear good news ❤️

CharTT33 · 29/01/2024 20:39

@OT06 honestly I really appreciate the information you have given me, it’s much clearer now. I am sooooo overwhelmed all I do is Google, and research never knew googling could be so draining loool! I just want the results to clear and I can have my healthy child. I’ve had 3 consecutive MCs then boom, trisomy21 risk. I always knew about the genetic condition that both my partner and I have but I never thought trying for a baby would be soooo taxing… I suppose that’s my naivety… I literally just thought you have sex and then 9 months later boom! Honestly how naive!

Sooo hopefully if I get all the way to next Thursday with no result it might just be good news!

Were your able to find out the sex from the cvs ?

Thank you again @OT06

CharTT33 · 30/01/2024 13:31

Everything will be ok I'm sure, take a deep breath and try to relax and stay positive :) honestly I also thought baby making is the easiest thing to do and the afterwards is the hard part but apparently life taught me a lesson. Now I appreciate the moment much more than ever, and since I'm 39 now, this will be my last pregnancy journey. Fingers crossed for the last set of results and hope you can enjoy your pregnancy stress free ❤️
