I went for an ultrasound the other day (16 weeks) and can’t seem to stop noticing on the images they’ve given me there seems to be little brown marks all over him. Are these birth marks or something else?

I don't think you can look to much into these. The fluid and other things can produce shadows etc. I had a scan at 16 weeks, it scared the daylights out of me. I was worried half the chest was missing and ended up calling them in a panic!

It's not a photo.

Mine looked like a rabbit in the scan. Spoiler. She's not.

I had a 4D scan done much later on in my pregnancy than you and I can assure you my baby looked absolutely nothing like the 4D scan! There was not a single thing about my baby that looked like the 4D scan even if I squinted. So try not to worry.

Ultrasound works by emitting the sound and then it bouncing back off surfaces.

the 4d scan isn’t a photo it’s an image of the ultrasound waves bouncing back. Fluids, angles etc can impact this.

My DDs birthmark appeared several weeks after she born.

I had a 4D scan the other day and think I can see a large mole on my baby’s cheek, is that something that can be seen in a 4D scan? Should I be worried?
