Amniocentesis/maternal cell contamination

Has anyone had a CVS or amniocentesis where they were told the sample had been contaminated and it’s going to be reanalysed? Just wondering if anyone had then received their results after another 1/2 week wait or it still came back contaminated and had to go back for another amnio?

Hello this happened to me. Sample was contaminated with maternal cells. They didn't reanalyse, I had to go back the week after for the same procedure.

Thank you, yes they first booked in for another amnio a couple days later but then the consultant rung on the day of the procedure and said as id only just had it done he wanted to get it reanalysed. I’m just thinking it’s another long wait, they still might not get the results and then I’d end up having it done again anyway! Getting further and further along in pregnancy :( so rubbish

I know exactly how you are feeling. The waiting is torturous. I pushed and pushed to get it as soon as possible and they squeezed me in at the end of the day earlier than planned. I was desperate. Sending you loads of hugs. X

Oh my goodness! I remember it well. It's traumatic, the waiting! My results took 5 weeks because they lost my 2nd sample as it had been sent to the wrong lab. I really hope you get the answers you need soon. Be kind to yourself, it's not easy.

My little one is now nearly 5 and healthy and happy. I hope this nightmare is over for you soon. Xxx
