Hoping someone can hold my hand
So here is the story, I had a gender scan at 17 weeks (private) and was excited to find out I am having a princess. At the time they could not get a clear view of all 4 chambers, nhs would not see me till 20 weeks which was a nervous wait and thankfully we got the all clear and was classed as low risk fast forward to 4D scan at 30 weeks (private) they were concerned once again with the heart and they could see she has a 4mm pericardial effusion and could not get a clear view of the heart, I am booked in for Friday to see a foetal medicine consultant for further tests. My baby girl is my 1st much wanted I had fertility issues with my ex and was told convening naturally was not going to happen low and behold meet my wonder oh and get pregnant shock when I am 40 this year. OH eldest has DS with Heart complications so now OH is blaming himself even though we have not had a diagnosis, I am in bits can not stop crying and needed to get this off my chest

You poor thing, I can't imagine how you all must be feeling right now. Try to stay positive, I'll be thinking of you all x

@FT123456 Thanks I am just hoping it was the way she was lying and making it difficult to get clear readings as said 20 week was fine and her heart beat is strong like a galloping horse and she can give a good kicking

How did you get on OP? 🌸

You know the NHS don't recommend private scans because they are not always trained the same way. I had a devastating experience also, that turned out to be nothing.
I went happily along to a private gender scan and was told the baby had a cleft lip and palate. Immediately, I got a scan with the NHS, but the baby was fine. Try not to worry too much until you've got confirmation from the professionals

Thanks all x there we're some issues that should resolve themselves over time but I am to be closely monitored and may need medication

@MissMaple82 yeah the lady that scanned me also works for the nhs maternity scanning centre we only wanted a 4d but they are thorough and glad she flagged the issues that we now know are not life threatening but need monitoring so I have gone from low to high risk

Madam had her heart check with the cardiac team, her issues have resolved however she does have a hole in her heart that may require surgery if it does not close as it is medium sized this is a possibility so she will be re scanned when she is 3 years

Hi there, congratulations on your baby girl! Just a question. How were you closely monitored? And were you given medication in the end? Thanks
