Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has had a CVS after having a miscarriage because of chromosome abnormality?

Bit of background: DD 2.5 with no problems. We then went on to have 3 back to back miscarriages with last foetus testing positive for T16 (the previous two weren't tested as they were natural).

Currently 10 weeks pregnant and under the care of EPU and had a positive scan last weekend. I have received a letter with a date for a CVS at 11 weeks 4 days because of previous T16.

I think I am going to have it done because I would rather know sooner rather than later if there is an abnormality but I'm feeling incredibly anxious especially regarding the miscarriage risk.

Just wondering if anyone could share their CVS experiences?

Thank you 💐

Hi,

sorry you have to go through that! It’s so nerve wracking. I have had to have CVS done as my youngest child passed with a rare genetic disease. I had it done 3 days ago, I had to get it done twice and they still didn’t think it would have been enough to be tested. I went back the following day as they forgot to give me anti D jag. They told me then that it couldn’t be tested and my options were to have cvs test done again next week or they advised waiting until 15 weeks for amniocentesis. I was gutted as I really didn’t want to end up 17 weeks by the time the results came back. I spoke to the Doctor and they said they had a meeting with the head of the fetal medicine and she was willing to give me the cvs then and there, so I got it don’t again. Thankfully there was enough sample to be tested. They phoned me yesterday and told me that the Down syndrome, Edwards and Patau are negative and told us the gender of the baby. They said I can be waiting up to 2 weeks for the results I am needed. The process itself wasn’t as near as bad as what I had anticipated. More uncomfortable than anything but I have felt fine afterwards.

Hi,

I had my nhs12 week scanning on the 18th Sept and did my trisomy test. The result came back with high chance 1 in 104 for T21, also given my age as I am 38 years old, my NT 2.6 mm .It was so stressful receiving that telephone call from the MW to get the news. And I was offered to do the test NIPT and after the longest most stressful week , my results came back as low and this was a huge relief.

I just wanted to say stay positive as this platform has kept me going reading so many similar experiences, and I felt I should post what I just went through, if that helps someone.Thank you everyone for sharing.❤
