High HCG on combined screening (low risk results)

My combined screening has come back as low risk however I got the letter through yesterday and the hcg seems really high. It’s 2.9 corr mom and I’m sure when I had screening with my first baby they said they like everything as close to 1 as possible.
NT was fine and Papp—a has come back as 1.56 so not low or anything.
I had to have a TFMR in my first pregnancy so maybe I’m just overly worried about everything but does anyone know if high hcg can indicate anything on its own? I’m going to call the hospital today and also ARC but thought I would ask on here as well.

I also got 2.2 during his pregnancy. Found some studies that show a correlation with increased hCG to preeclampsia and intra uterine growth restriction. Keep an eye on your blood pressure, see if you get any protein in urine (they do both tests at the natal checks & scans), and see how your baby scans go, if they show normal growth.

low Papp-a gives you the same risks, but you don’t have that as well.

there is no definite answer for high hCG in pregnancy. I’ve read it happens more often when the baby is a girl too (mine is a girl).

I’ve also seen much higher hCG results here on forums and W had no issues in pregnancy.

so it’s not concerning tbh, any issues that might arise will get caught during your prenatal appointments.

I had around 3 mom for hCG for this pregnancy which turned out to be nothing in the end. I did have a high risk Down syndrome result, because of my age and a slightly high nuchal measurement combination, but came back clear from further testing. The medics said high hCG was nothing to worry about on its own and everyone’s levels differ. I’m also having a girl, so that fits the theory that rates are higher with a girl!

I rang ARC during my testing and they were great, so hope they have reassured you.

Mine was super high with my second son - 5.2!! He’s absolutely fine and my pregnancy was straight forward.

I did ask a consultant about it and they said that some women just have high HCG. As long as everything else seems okay, it’s just one of those things.

Its linked to nausea/vomiting though and I never stopped puking for the whole nine months.

I know this is old but my hcg was 9.58 MOM. My T21 ratio was 1:170 because of this but all other measurements normal. My baby girl is perfect :) I had a major panic at the time and paid for a NIPT which came back very low risk.

Good to hear this. I had 1.99 HCG and 0.62 Papp, over all 1:161 for down's, low risk but higher than my previous pregnancies. I am 37 too, so hoping for good outcome.
I haven't been offered further testing as cut off is 1-150
