Has anyone else had this test in the last couple of weeks, what was the turnaround time please? Had the blood taken last Thursday (1 week ago) but nothing yet.

thanks

Hello! Yes. I did mine on 1st October (a Saturday) , was told 7-10 working days. Hadn’t heard anything by Friday 14th October (the 10th working day) so gave them a call. They told me they get the results from the lab late in the afternoon and hadn’t had them yet… they phoned me back to say that the test had failed (and not due to low fetal fraction)… so to come for a redraw. Went for my redraw Monday PM and they said as it was a redraw they would mark it as urgent and I would “probably hear by the end of this week”. Gave them a call at 5 and they said they hadn’t got the results yet but someone would give me a call…. Nobody has called and no email either so panicking a little.
Frantic googling tells me this means there could be an issue!

I used them in 2020 and got my results on the 7th working day as promised (albeit at 1750 by email).

Omhac · 21/10/2022 20:49

No idea if they work weekends but guessing not as they quote working days… so I guess it’s Monday now at the earliest? Unless you heard today?

Omhac · 22/10/2022 09:53

Did you get your results 😊?
just thought I’d let you know that I phoned to check they definitely don’t give any results on the weekend (they confirmed they do not), so that I’m not refreshing my inbox like a maniac all weekend!

iowm · 22/10/2022 11:01

Hey all. I had the NIPT at Ultrasound Direct Monday 17th in the morning. The waiting is horrendous… I rang today for the same reason as Omhac and they said they do get results over the weekend!?

Omhac · 22/10/2022 18:40

How weird! @iowm

Maybe they “receive them” from the lab (I believe all UK harmony tests are done by the same lab, TDL in London) over the weekend, but the part where they’re communicated has to be authorised by a clinician, either by phone call or email.
They said the soonest I could have them is 9am Monday (when I’m away!!)

The wait is way worse than I thought!

If you do happen to get them over the weekend though, or anyone else reading this thread has ever received theirs on a weekend, please let me know!

iowm · 24/10/2022 12:52

Urgh. I had the Vision test but still no results. Driving me nuts….. 😩

SunnyGG · 26/10/2022 14:40

Hi everyone wondering did you receive your results yet? In same boat!

Cuppasoupmonster · 26/10/2022 14:41

I did! I got them on Friday (had the bloods taken Thursday previous week). All was fine luckily and it’s a girl 🎀 when did you have your appointment?

iowm · 26/10/2022 19:02

I got mine today 🎉 9 full days… All is well though and also having a little girl - dream come true.

Cuppasoupmonster · 26/10/2022 19:03

Congratulations!

Oh god my wait is agony.
I don’t think I’m going to get a result, which the literature points to possibly bad stuff :-(
I called on Monday and they said the first bottle had failed the QC checks, so they’d be running the second. But these are actually my 3rd and 4th bottles as it was a redraw because 1 and 2 already failed 😣

iowm · 27/10/2022 08:29

Oh @Omhac im so sorry you’re having such an agonising wait. Call again today. Everything crossed you hear today..

Catherine2022 · 10/11/2022 12:27

Mine took nearly 3 weeks as I had to have my bloods redrawing 3 times due to a mix up with blood collections and then being told that my bloods had been received when they hadn't.

I was told that it would take 7-10 days and I think this is typical for most NIPT. Definitely go with word of mouth and personal recommendations rather than just googling, used The Medical chambers kensington in london which I wouldn't use again

MaraudingMother · 05/12/2022 19:37

Did you get the sexing with the NIPT with ultrasound direct? Their website says they won't tell you due to the research and data? I'm just curious

Cuppasoupmonster · 05/12/2022 20:00

Mine was wrong, ive been through quite a stressful time over the last 2 weeks. As my post up thread says, the NIPT (with ultrasound direct) came back low risk and girl. Went to my anomaly scan at 20 weeks to be told boy. I was told it was either a lab error (which ultrasound direct denied) or the baby had some kind of rare intersex condition. I ended up having an amnio which confirmed a healthy baby boy, the NIPT was just wrong 🤷🏼‍♀️

MaraudingMother · 05/12/2022 20:06

@Cuppasoupmonster oh bloody hell! Sorry for asking, I didn't realise.

I truthfully didn't know they could be wrong.
Congrats on baby boy though xxx

Cuppasoupmonster · 05/12/2022 20:08

Just wondering if it’s my complaint that means they’ve stopped offering the complimentary sexing 😆 It didn’t even enter my mind the NIPT could be wrong, but there are loads of stories online about people having similar experiences to me…

OP posts:
MaraudingMother · 05/12/2022 20:09

@Cuppasoupmonster online it just says due to the lack of research and data they don't offer the screening. Nothing about complimentary sexing on their website! Did it have that when you booked? Xx

Cuppasoupmonster · 05/12/2022 20:12

Can you link me? I’m intrigued

OP posts:
MaraudingMother · 05/12/2022 20:15

@Cuppasoupmonster I think I've been reading it wrong 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ it says it can't analyse the sex chromosomes for anomalies due to lack of data, not predict the sex.

Cuppasoupmonster · 05/12/2022 20:21

Oh right!

OP posts:
Omhac · 06/12/2022 06:05

i ended up getting 4 failed tests. The literature suggests that can mean something or nothing, but that multiple failed tests does increase the chance of a chromosomal abnormality. I too therefore got an amnio (which I doubted myself over) and pleased to say it’s all fine- cried a huge sense of relief- was far more stressed than I knew.

Omhac · 06/12/2022 06:24

I should add that at no point was I counselled that this could be the case (4 failed tests, NOT due to low fetal fraction). I was a little disappointed about this, as it was a lot of anxiety and ultimately an invasive test.
There are a few sources of literature online querying and criticising the ethics of NIPT in the private sector (Nuffield Bioethics and the Lancet).
