Hi mums, I went for a gender scan privately yesterday and unfortunately instead of finding out gender we were told baby has a cystic space on heart. We have been referred to foetal medicine unit and have a scan Thursday. I'm 17 weeks. Has anybody ever experienced this? My downs and Edwards tests came back 1 in 100,000, but the sonographers seemed to be really concerned and kept saying "im so sorry" but wouldn't give us any more information. Now I'm left thinking my baby is ill or is not going to make it. I can't find nothing online about heart cysts only stomach or brain. On my notes it says cystic space adjacent to the heart. Has anyone experienced this and what was the outcome please? I'm so worried and so upset.

Hi, how are you doing? Did you get seen by fetal medicine? I don't have any experience of what you described in your post but I was referred to fetal medicine after my 20 week scan due to an abnormality being picked up and I remember how stressful it all was and how worried I felt at the time. I hope you are okay.
