High risk combination results - going for NIPT

I’m 24 and this is my first pregnancy, at our 12 weeks scan we had an nt of 4.5 which put us in higher risk of problems. My combined results have given us 1 in 100 for downs and 1 in 75 for edwards/patau. Such a stressful and worrying time I can’t stop crying. We’re going to go for the NIPT - is there any positive stories of people who have been similar? Needing all the help/reassure I can get 😫

Hi, did you have a positive outcome for this with you NIPT i have gone for one today and just trying to find some reassurance. i am also 1/100 chance of downs. :(

When do you get your results @EmsLouB?

Hi @EmsLouB you may already be sorted but just wanted to send a virtual hug. I was 1:118 for downs and opted for the NIPT. I had bloods on the Thursday morning and results the following Tuesday showing low risk. My son was born in October 22, super healthy. I’m 28 so age wasn’t the factor so I was beyond worried and it was a horribly anxious time. They now think it’s because I had low PAPP-A. Hope you’re doing okay x

@EmsLouB we had low risk NIPT results and a very reassuring 16 week scan however at our 20 weeks scan and fetal echo scan we found out our babies heart had not developed properly and sadly lost our baby in December. Our initial problem was the high NT measurement and sadly we fell into the 5% chance of a heart defect. However there have been many positive stories I had read along our journey and although we did not have a positive outcome we have just found out we are expecting again with a due date close to our first baby’s birthday. I wish you all the best in your pregnancy and have my fingers crossed for you that all works out 🤍
